Weekly News for February 2-6, 2009

Important Dates/Reminders:
* Our next book fair will start on Feb. 6 –
12th. Math and Science night is Feb. 9th
5-7pm. Come and enjoy lots of great
activities around the school. PTO will
have a hotdog sale that night also.
* Our Valentine Party will be Feb. 12th at
1:30. Please send in $3 for the party by Wednesday, Feb. 11th. Please send in an empty cereal box asap for our Valentine holders.
* We will be out of school on Friday, Feb. 13th and Monday, 16th.
* PTO is planning a Family Movie Night on
Feb. 27th. “Horton Hears a Who” will be showing. More info. will be coming soon.
*The school store will be opening on Wednesday and Thursday before the bell in the mornings. Novelty Pens, pencils, erasers, etc. will be sold. I will try to get prices for you soon.
* From the Nurse: If a child brings in over the counter med. It MUST be in original box or bottle with directions for how much and appropriate age for child. ALL meds. MUST come to the Health Room, including cough drops or if child is going from one parent to another and brings meds.

*** We are in need of glue sticks!!! If you can help, please send in some for our class.
*** Thank you to all of you who sent in snacks for our 100th day trail mix.

HOMEWORK:
Homework sheets are in your child’s folder. Please do these with your child and return on Friday. Thanks to those who returned the Take Home Readers on Friday.


What We will Learn this week:
Reading: We will be reviewing all beginning consonants and vowels, word family –op, action words, and characters. We will also review all HF words on our word wall. Your child should know how to spell them too.
Math: We will continue to work on counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. Most of the children have the 10’s, but be working on counting by 5’s this week at home. We will also work on months of the year and putting them in order. We also need to know how to say them, and tell what month comes after and before another month.
