Important Dates/Reminders:
May 22- Grades 1-5 Field Day. We will be doing the water events at 10:00 until 11 and then the school wide cookout at 11:00. Please send your child to school in their bathing suits with clothes on top for girls and a tee shirt for boys. They also need to wear flip flops and bring a towel. Please send a change of dry clothes and shoes to school in a bag to change into afterwards.

* Our Valentine Party will be Thursday, Feb. 12th at 1:30. Please send in $3 for the party by Wednesday, Feb. 11th.

Feb. 27th. “Horton Hears a Who” will be showing. More info. will be coming soon.

Please do not send more than that or a week’s worth. Starting today your child is going to keep up with his/her quarter themselves (in pocket) until lunch and then buy his/her juice themselves. Thank you for understanding with this. With 23 children, change, money, lists, etc. is not easy to keep up with daily.

We will also work on months of the year and putting them in order. We also need to know how to say them, and tell what month comes after and before another month.

What We will Learn this week:
Reading: We will be reviewing all beginning consonants and vowels, word family –op, action words, and characters. We will also review all HF words on our word wall. Your child should know how to spell them too.
Math: We will continue to work on counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. Most of the children have the 10’s, but be working on counting by 5’s this week at home. We will also work on months of the year and putting them in order. We also need to know how to say them, and tell what month comes after and before another month.

Important Dates/Reminders:
* The Westminster Elementary Junior Beta Club is sponsoring a coat drive. We will collect coats for boys, girls, men and women of all sizes. Please make sure the coats are cleaned before sending them to school. The collection of coats will begin on January 12 and end on January 29.
* Wednesday, January 28th is the 100th day of school! Please remember to send in the 100th projects and 100 snack items by Wednesday. Thanks for your help with this.
* If you have not signed and returned the report card, please do so ASAP! Thanks!
* Book Order is coming home today and will be sent off on January 30th.
* Our next book fair will start on Feb. 6 –
12th. More info coming soon!
* Our Valentine Party will be Feb. 12th at
1:45. More info will come soon!
* We will be out of school on Feb. 13th and

* PTO is planning a Family Movie Night on

Reading: We will be learning the letter/sound for the vowel Oo. We will build words with the –ot family. We will work on patterns in text, retelling a story, and ending punctuation.
Math: It’s the 100th day of school on Wednesday. We will be learning how to count to 100 in different ways and counting groups of 10. We will continue with months of the year also.

*Kindergarten Registration will be held on March 2 – 6, 2009. Please bring the following items: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Updated Immunization Record and Proof of Residency. You do not need an appointment for Kindergarten Registration. More detailed information will be sent home as we get closer to this date.
Pre Kindergarten Registration and Screening will be held on March 3, 2009. Please call the school for an appointment on this date.
